Mechanical Inspection Technician
KBR has a unique opportunity with a candidate with a mechanical/piping background, that is interested in being trained to be an NDT (nondestructive testing) Inspector. You will work at the client site inspecting tanks and piping for corrosion and damage. Client will train you to be certified in NDT, including UTT, VT, and PT (liquid penetrate testing).
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform visual and non-destructive inspections of equipment in accordance with API and ASME standards.
- Review and analyze NDE findings, monitor corrosion rates and schedule needed repair/replace mitigations.
- Submit technically accurate reports documenting equipment condition.
- Provide technical input to client as required for welding and metallurgical issues
- Provide technical guidance on an application of non-destructive examination techniques and procedures
- Properly interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Mechanical/piping aptitude gained from experience in industrial plant or construction field.
- Ability to read and understand drawings
- Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to climb ladders, operate manlift, do confined space entries, work from scaffolding, crawl under structures, and walk on uneven surfaces to perform inspections.
- Some travel to Dayton, OH and Bayport, TX is required for inspections and training. This is usually around 2 weeks per year.
