India Extends Restrictions On Sugar Export

The General Administration of Foreign Trade of India stated that the restrictions on sugar exports have been extended to October 2023. Countries continue their decisions limiting exports based on agricultural production to combat food inflation. Finally, a decision in this direction came from India. The General Administration of Foreign Trade of India stated that the restrictions imposed on sugar exports will be implemented until October 2023.

In May, India decided to limit sugar exports to 10 million tons in order to protect its sugar reserves and keep inflation under control. India, the world’s largest sugar producer, ranks second in exports after Brazil. Drawing attention to the danger of food security and inflation in mid-May, India announced that its wheat exports were also stopped.
