Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahdi Safari stated that the country’s administration will buy natural gas from Russia for domestic needs and that Iranian gas will be sold to other countries. According to Sputnik; “The scenario of Iran’s natural gas trade with Russia is to buy gas from this country and then export our own gas to neighboring countries,” Safari said.
Saying that the only problem is that Iran needs an intermediary to buy Russian gas, Safari stated that the agreement with Russia is at the final stage and said, “Russia was negotiating the gas exchange plan with Turkey, but Iran was able to quickly evaluate the opportunities that opened up.” Russia and Iran will establish a joint business for swap shipments. The enterprise will be responsible for the construction of the gas pipeline to the Gulf countries.
