Twitter Blue Has Been Disabled

It was seen that Twitter Blue, the subscription system of Twitter, which gives a blue tick to everyone who buys it, was closed for purchase on Friday evening after fake accounts created chaos on the platform. It was seen that the subscription option, which is open only for iOS users, was removed from the user bar on Friday. Those who have subscribed before, continue to be found in their blue tiki profiles.

Security researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who is known for announcing the features of social media platforms before they are announced, stated that he examined Twitter’s application programming interface and Twitter Blue is no longer visible. After Elon Musk bought the company, giving blue ticks to subscribers who bought Twitter Blue caused the posts of accounts impersonating others on Twitter to go viral. Users impersonating public figures, artists and celebrities were confused.

For example, “We are excited to announce that we are making insulin free” was shared from the blue tick parody account of Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company. Shortly after, the real Eli Lilly account posted an apology. An account imitating former US President George W. Bush also shared “I miss killing Iraqis”.
